The Limehouse-Jazzband was founded in 1965. Originally from the Haarlem region, near Amsterdam, they developed a good reputation as a Traditional Band playing arranged music acoustically and specializing in Classic New Orleans Music of the 1920 / 1932 period. Highlight 1972: First at the Breda-Jazz-Festival.The Limehouse-Jazzband anno 2009:" from music making just for the fun of it to internationally directed marketing".The band regularly "crosses borders". The North Sea Jazz Festival (2004) and the Ascona International New Orleans Jazz Festival (2005) brought about a significant momentum to all aspects of the orchestra: a musical director (Mr. Louis Lanzing); some new musicians and intelligent arrangements (Peter Stove / Mauro Porro). All this resulted in a vast number of gigs in the Benelux / UK / Germany / Switserland / Skandinavia / East - Europe and for 2010 a small "Tour de France" has been planned for the first time. Essential in today's interpretation of arranged Classic New Orleans Music is professional coaching. The combination of a great deal of rehearsing and a lot of gigs enlarges the stability in the orchestra. The specific Limehouse-Jazzband timbre, mainly supported by the reed section, revives the sounds from the twenties and the thirties. Interpreting complex arrangements as if they were easy: that's what it's all about. Then that real "swing" can be heard that urges the dance lovers to leave their chairs. The jubilee CD:"Drop me off in Harlem" (sold out) was very well received and induced many invitations for prestigious jazz festivals. The new CD "Club Conversation" with five special made arrangements by arranger Peter Stove (Holland) also sold out now. Some of them to be seen and to be heard on www.youtube.com. For the "Limers" playing in sociable Jazz-Clubs and on Jazz-Festivals at home and abroad not only means a "gig" but most of all a "kick". A new CD with new repertory and three new members of the band is foreseen at the end of 2010.
